Steve Martin Virginia Beach reviews
Throw back Theme! Refreshing....
These two entertainers just HAVE IT! Different from any type of show when seeing comedians. I hate to compare but i will... It was on the order of watching the original Carol Burnett show Live, and Steve and Marty were like Tim Conway & Harvey Korman. They play off each other so well in story telling, busting chops and over-all just an enjoyable show. Honorable mention to Mr. Paul Shaffer as he was good along with the bluegrass band of ladies. This was for my wife on our Anniversary but turned out to be a gift for me as well. The way the production flowed was genius. Like i said a throw back with some of today. I read some conflicting reviews before i purchased glad i trusted my instinct. Last but not least i like that they keep their family life Private, Way to go guys and THANK YOU for a Great Gift. All of You!. J.G A. G .........
Most Entertaining Show Ever!
Such hilarity! By the end of this show, our faces ached from laughing so hard. Never have we seen a show packed with more non-stop entertainment, from memorable video clips, to roastings, silly fun and antics, funny reminiscences, insights into these great entertainers' life stories, and the most amazing physical comedy by 71-year-old Martin Short who still seems to have a limitless supply of energy! I can't say enough about the music!! Steve Martin is spectacular on the banjo (a big reason I wanted to see the show), and the Steep Canyon Rangers are truly phenomenal on their instruments, belting out heart-pounding, toe-tapping, head-bobbing music. At one point in the show, the fiddler's string broke. The Rangers gathered around him, the music never slowed, and within seconds he had whipped out a fresh string, tied it in place, and kept the pace going with no perception of a lull in the thrill of it all. The pace of Steve M's & Martin's S's one-liners kept us roaring, and most hilarious to me was Martin Short's impersonation of a human bagpipe. Great Silly Fun!! My Sweetheart and I flew to Reno just to see this show, and we came away feeling more intensely rewarded and entertained than we dreamed was possible. SEE THE SHOW and ENJOY!!!!
Could have been better
We had seats in the second balcony. A large part of the performance included a screen that could not be viewed from our section. Due to the placement of the screen at the back of the stage, it appeared that many of the sections of the theater could not see it. The audio was distorted and it was difficult to comprehend what was being said. We did enjoy the musical part of the performance. The steep canyon rangers are wonderful. When we got back home we found a Steve Martin and Martin short special on Amazon or Netflix. As we were watching it, we realized that the performance was essentially exact to what we saw. This explained an opening comment or apparent joke about the material being new. We also were able to see the screen images that we missed during the township performance. The tickets should have referred limited or distorted view. The sound equipment should have been better as well so they could be understood. However we did enjoy the performance even with the issues, just expected more.
Unforgettable!
Sat in the front row. I know this duo are two legends that we will never see the likes of again... especially together. The show was entertaining, smart, creative and full of energy! We were in the hands of Master Entertainers! Martin has the same boyish style and energy that I remember seeing when I was a kid. And Steve's banjo playing was on another level. I don't particularly like banjo music but this was not banjo music. It was beautiful music payed on a banjo. I would pay a premium to sit in the front row to see it all over again. One of the best shows ever!
